Saharawi refugees protest ABB controversy

Saharawi refugees protested against the Swiss-Swedish company's contract for the Moroccan government on occupied land.

Western Sahara Resource Watch this week wrote that the Swiss-Swedish ABB Group received a contract for building energy in occupied Western Sahara.

The company is involved in the Aftissat wind energy project near Boujdour, occupied Western Sahara, to connect the new controversial wind farm in the territory to the Moroccan national electricity grid. By doing this, Morocco will be able to profit even more from the illegal occupation of the territory.

The refugee group protesting the matter were holding a banner stating that "ABB, you are not welcome in Western Sahara"

The company had confirmed in a letter correspondence with a Swiss organisation that it was involved in such project.
